At last, lockdown rules have eased and I have been able to meet up with my lovely couples to photograph their engagement sessions - hooray! On a warm Sunday afternoon, I met up with Jessica and Alex at the beautiful Wells-next-the-Sea. Sadly, the day before would have been their wedding day, but due to lockdown they have had to postpone their celebration until next year, and I am sooooo looking forward to it! It was a pleasure to commemorate their original date with some intimate, relaxed portraits. We started off by wandering through the Corsican pine woods, just behind the beach. Quickly stumbling upon a perfect photo opp spot amongst a circular arrangement of trees surrounded by wild evergreen shrubs, I grabbed my camera and begun shooting.
Emerging from the woodlands, we strolled across the beach. Pausing by the huts and long grass to grab a few more photographs. It was lovely chatting with them about what they are most looking forward to on their wedding day, including music and drinks aplenty! The excitement on their faces as they discussed their plans was so heartwarming. It was also an absolute pleasure getting to know the two of them better, as this was the first time we had met after chatting for some time via email.
Before meeting up with Jessica and Alex, I arrived early so I could have a look around the town for some unique and beautiful photo spots (a rather easy job when you’re shooting in a place as gorgeous as Wells!). I like to do this so I can provide options for my clients, as well as being able to build a creative picture in my head of what the shoot could look like. On my walk, I noticed some vivid blue wild flowers growing by the port. I could not resist taking them there as I felt the bright colour would really make the photos pop. We left the beach and headed straight towards the harbour. When we arrived at our final location, the town had become much quieter. It was lovely to feature the iconic buildings in the background of these photos, whilst a sea mist started to crawl towards the land. A very romantic, dreamy setting perfect for their engagement session.
